The fool

Some people get really confused when I say this, but I think it’s a legitimate statement that when understood might help in those times of debate when we feel the urge to be defensive.
The fool is the one that does not want to learn something they may not have known or considered before. The fool is the one that wants to be right at the expense of their own growth. The fool is the one that wants to win more than they want to become a better person.
It’s easy to let the ego lead the dance when an argument arises. But while the ego can serve its purpose in our growth, it is often the enemy of our best selves.
Learning how to recognize and calm it down when it’s dominating your discourse will preserve and expand relationships. Knowing when it’s sneaking in to raise your voice, or create rage because it feels like it’s losing, is critical.
If you feel like you’re not being heard, the same is likely happening on the other side of the conversation.
You’re here because you care. I’m here WITH you because I care.
Let’s see what we can learn about each other, our experiences, and our world perspectives to raise each other up to a new level.
If for no other reason than to selfishly desire becoming a better human being. For both our sakes.
