Success changes very little.
The best and most obvious thing is having a few more dollars in your pocket.
Which initially is fantastic. Knowing you can buy your groceries, and pay your rent is a major relief, and I would never downplay the significance of that.
That being said, it’s easy to adapt to that and life still feels more of the same as it always has.
I still work. I still strive to improve every day. I still have demands and expectations on my time. More than ever actually. I still struggle to
see the horizon of a break. I still yearn for time off but rarely enjoy it for more than a few hours before I get antsy.
Success is fantastic. But I still have doubts. I still know I have to continue proving myself if I want to maintain this success. I still have bigger goals I have yet to achieve.
Undoubtedly many of you will come to comment words of encouragement and support. Maybe some advice, etc. All of which I deeply appreciate. But I do think there’s often a misunderstanding of why I say these things.
I don’t say them because I need help. I’m an extremely introspective, self aware, and (good or bad) arrogant AND humble person.
I’m not saying these things to ask for YOUR assistance. I’m saying these things as an OFFERING of assistance.
My point can be best summarized with a quote by Jim Carrey, “I think everybody should get rich and famous and do everything they ever dreamed of so they can see that it’s not the answer”.
You’re always going to be with YOU. So if you struggle being with YOU now, that’s not going to change if you win the lottery. Conversely, if you love being with yourself NOW, no LACK can ever take that away.
Success changes very little.
