Stop lying to yourself

How often do you lie to yourself?
How often do you tell yourself you’re gonna do something, but you never do it?
How often do you try to convince yourself that there’s a thing you care about a great deal, that you KNOW you should be doing, but you continually let yourself down, only to restart the cycle of lie, disappointment, lie disappointment, lie, disappointment…?
We do this because in some delusional part of our brain, we believe that THINKING about doing something is the same as actually DOING something.
We convince ourselves so thoroughly in those moments that it actually feels really good. We get hype, we set our alarm, we stare at ourselves in the mirror and proclaim “TOMORROW!”
But then, the next day comes, we fail again, and we become sad and depressed, because ultimately, we are liars.
We’ve been lied to. Over and over and over again.
And yes, it’s the same as if someone you truly cared about convinced you they were going to do something great with you, or for you, and then they leave you high and dry. Alone. Hurt. Questioning our own self worth.
See, when you lie to yourself you perpetuate the belief that you’re not good enough. When you lie to yourself, you are showing yourself that you’re a bad person that can’t be trusted.
The only thing the universe responds to is your actions. You can pray, want, think, and hope until you’re blue in the face. But if you don’t take action, and keep your word to YOURSELF, then you will only continue the vicious cycle of self hatred.
And worst of all, you will make zero progress toward the thing you claim you so badly want to accomplish.
So stop lying to yourself. Learn to see the difference between your actions and your thoughts.
If someone could only observe you, what would THEY say you’re doing?
