These were my biggest reels this year. The funny thing is, every single one of these pieces was laced with doubt. Internal assumptions of failure, inadequacy, fear…

But I post my work. ALL of my work.

Selfishly, it’s a documentation of my progress. There’s a little sadistic ego maniac beneath the surface that can’t wait to mock and condescend my former, less capable, self. The future glory of superiority is well worth the suffering of exposing any potential mediocrity.

It also thickens the skin. Posting “imperfect” work isn’t as scary as one thinks. If we’re honest, it’s usually more positive feedback than negative. We just tend to focus on the negative because that’s what WE do with our art.

Being able to show the world and be relatively indifferent to the attention it receives or doesn’t receive is critical to growth.

The point isn’t to impress every person that sees your work… the point is to prove that you can stand up to the scrutiny necessary to truly evolve. And that evolution is the unavoidable prerequisite to find “your style”.

Unselfishly I post all of my work because, whether I like it or not, there ARE people that WILL like it. This is where our art isn’t always for us. Our art is to share with those whom it brings enjoyment. Sometimes that includes us. Sometimes it doesn’t.

I had plenty of reasons to never share this work, or any of the previous work since Feb 2021. (Especially those early months) But being curious about what would happen if I worked and posted daily has absolutely blown my mind.

These “undeserving” pieces of art have been viewed millions of times.
