Little surprises

It’s nice to find something you didn’t know you’d love to do.

I didn’t think much about Conan the Barbarian, beyond it being a fantastically nostalgic movie. A Saturday night flick on USA, or maybe HBO.

I’ve had this blank for like a year and a half. And then out of nowhere a client is like, “I would love to see you do a Conan.” And I said, “I have a Conan blank.” … “let’s do it.”

And just like that all these emotions and memories flood back. I’m drawing a Conan cover, reminiscing with Chat about all the best Arnold movies, doing my best to honor the spirit of the comic and the movie.

I’m still figuring out my inking. But I can tell it’s like RIGHT there.

Might need to take a dose of my own medicine and do some drills.
