Life is crazy bro

You just never know how your work and your life is going to impact someone else’s.

@ryanottley was an artist on a modest indie comic 20 years ago, working with Robert Kirkman (the guy that wrote the Walking Dead) on Invinicble. During his run they developed a side character called Battle Beast.

Fast forward a couple decades, and Invincible launches as an animation on Amazon and blows up. In the meantime Ryan is finishing a successful run at Marvel after doing Spider Man and the Incredible Hulk while I’m slowly getting back into comics and managing to build a reputation and some skills.

Kirkman and Ottley rejoin forces and decide to do a series with Battle Beast as the main character. As part of their launch they make retailer exclusive variants possible, and I manage to be one of the lucky few to get to do a cover.

And GANGBUSTERS… the book is a HUGE success and out of nowhere my career takes a massive leap.

Now, Ryan didn’t know when he came up with Battle Beast 20 years ago that it was going to be such a major impact on my career. But here we are…

… just two dudes who love to draw. One anchored as an all time great, and one just getting started.
