"It is only once I accept who I am that I can then change"

I've been in this game a long time now, and I don’t mean comics.
I mean life.
I’ve failed way more than I have succeeded. I was terrible in school. I had dozens of jobs before the age of 24 from which I quit or was fired. My first marriage failed, and another 7 year relationship after that. I struggled with my art career for decades. Which in and of itself comes with almost hourly failure.
So now that things are starting to pop off, it’s uncomfortable. It’s unnatural. And there is a little monster in me that wants to blow the whole thing up and go back to a life I thought was what I deserved.
Failure is way easier my friends. Mediocrity is cozy AF.
Expecting greatness from yourself IS a battle. It does not come easy. It is not fun to realize how many years were held back because of my own limiting beliefs.
My own impatience.
My own arrogance.
My own self hate.
I hope if you’re reading this you take a moment to ask yourself if what you believe you deserve and your actions in pursuit of that belief match.
Do you DO what you say you WANT?
Be honest with yourself. Brutally, BRUTALLY honest.
Are your ACTIONS in line with your goals?
Do you want to be a better partner? Do you want to have a better job? Do you want to be in better shape? Do you want to be more competent?
Patient?
Wise?
Calm?
Strong?
Are you willing to accept all of your weaknesses and face them head on? Can you be vulnerable with yourself? With others?
Can you observe the patterns in your life and accept personal responsibility for their existence?
This is life my friend. Moments filled with decisions that we make which build the future we must deal with. The question is if your present was built from your past, are you satisfied to continue a similar path?
“It is only once I accept who I am that I can then change”
So accept, and THEN change…
And don’t look back.
