I'm on my way

I was supposed to leave the con an hour earlier.
We were going to go to dinner at a totally different location.
We were going to walk the dog first but decided to make sure we could get seated before it got too busy.
There were about half a dozen things that had to fall into place for me to stumble by @toddmcfarlane and have our second conversation 35 years later.
But that’s how it seems to work when the time is right.
Todd was gracious with his fans (fan) as always. We had a great chat for 10-15 min. I refreshed his memory of our first encounter back in ‘92. We spoke on the industry, my place in it, and his impact on both.
He scrolled my Instagram a bit, pointed out the stuff he liked, and we went on our separate ways.
“You guys look out. This kids gonna be the next big thing.”
That’s what he said way back in 1992. And while I definitely wasn’t the NEXT big thing, I’m certainly stoked to be A thing at all in this wild business I’ve been such a fan of for 4 decades.
I couldn’t stop wanting to send this pic to my Dad, since he was such a major part of why I got to have breakfast with Todd all those years ago.
But while I couldn’t send the pic, I absolutely could feel his presence beaming down.
This isn’t a “sign” I’ve made it. There’s tons of work yet to do.
But it was absolutely a fantastic reminder that I’m on my way. 🙇
SDCC day 3. You were a banger.
