I fail plenty

I’ve drawn ol’ Supes a handful of times at least. He’s never been a character I’ve been particularly attracted to. I tend to lean toward the darker characters; Batman, Ghost Rider, Omni Man, etc.

Every attempt previously resulted in some, let’s just say, at best, a so-so final product. And it bugged me.

I don’t have to love a character to want to do him justice. (Ha! *wink wink for that pun, eh?)

Especially an iconic character like Clark here.

When I draw a hero, I want to feel like I (big capital I) captured his essence in a way that I (big capital I) feel satisfied. I want to look at them and feel like THAT version could definitely be in their comic and the fans would love it.

I feel like I finally leaped the proverbial skyscraper here and the result is one I’m proud of.

Being an artist is about way more than just making a pretty picture. It’s about learning YOUR voice of expression and how to satisfy it.

And dammit if that doesn’t take a lifetime…
