Have you ever experienced this?

You’re randomly struck with an idea, a spark, a little inspiration. It’s not a job or a chore. It’s not necessary or productive. It’s just an urge to try something.

So you try, despite the fact that you don’t really know what you’re doing, and of course you fail. But you enjoyed trying so much you keep trying.

So here you are, immersed in this thing. At some point it becomes the only thing in existence. This MUST be done. I cannot continue to live UNTIL I see it done.

That was this piece. My first mistake was conflicting shadows. Then it was going too dark. Then it was the unappealing contrast of the markers and paint pens not matching.

But I KNEW I could make a cool Hellboy piece for this blank. And while I could probably sit and work it to death, I think 3 separate sessions was enough. 😅
