Foreshortening

I cannot emphasize enough how much fun it is when you really learn how to foreshorten. Being able to “see” in 3 dimensions is invaluable when it comes to creating motion and dynamic effects into a 2 dimensional drawing.

His back left leg gave me some trouble initially. At first I had him as if this were strictly a punch being thrown. But as I worked through the piece, I felt like he was really just flying, or twisting through the air. Or maybe preparing to barrel into his target with right shoulder.

Sometimes it matters, sometimes it doesn’t. The question is always “does it look cool, and do I like it?”

The answer is yes. 👊🏻😎
