Don’t force it.

I usually do several rough sketches to avoid this scenario, but occasionally you have to know when your idea can be improved. Even if you’re already fairly deep into your drawing.

Little tweaks can make a huge difference. The difference between the first pose and second pose is minimal.

They’re both holding the katana close to their face with their kimono and ears blowing in the wind.

But, by moving the “camera” in, and doing the slight adjustment of the hands off to the right (his left) with the right elbow (his left) lifted, Usagi now looks far more fierce.

He’s looking THROUGH you and showing the harvest of his blade.

I always encourage peeps to finish their work to completion. It’s important to learn to NOT quit, and you’ll learn far more from always trying to do your best to the end.

But it’s also important to learn when to let go when you know it can be better.
