Depth

It’s not magic.


It’s just a bunch of lines of various shape and thickness placed in specific locations to create the illusion of depth.


The secret is training your brain how to see the 2 dimensional page as a 3 dimensional world.


There is a reason I’m constantly pushing the fundamentals of shape building. Squares into cubes, circles into spheres and cylinders. And then placing those shapes in space, otherwise known as perspective.


This is the easiest way to teach your brain how to find depth where there should be none.


Sure, you can learn other ways. You can copy other artists. You can mimic other styles. You can learn anatomy until you’re blue in the face.


But to me, IMO, depth is where all true depth is found. 😉
