Approach to a Tough Cover

This one was tough. The cover here is super dark AND has a ton of printed “texture”. This compromises the ability to see the lines drawn.

Luckily, the style of the art within the book has a very loose sketch feel, so I approached my process like this as well. Using a very minimal pencil sketch and then using a tiny .3 Molotow liner to slowly build up the image. Eventually getting thicker lines in once the foundation was something I was happy with. And then adding the white to help pop it off the page.
