Practice it over and over

Bruce Lee said it correct. “I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times.”
Developing as an artist requires repetition. Here are 14 pieces done in about 5 hours this past Sunday. I’ve done roughly 30-35 pieces in this new style.
I’m experimenting here, so I’m not trying to get too crazy in my poses. I’m really just doing the same basic headshot pose, with different characters, and similar approaches to the colors.
I’m only making tiny adjustments so that I can truly understand this stylistically.
It can’t be a fluke. So I need to master it. I need it to be ingrained in my muscle memory. I need to know WHY it works and just as important, WHY I like it.
If you’re just starting, this should be done with the basics. An arm in the same pose from the same angle, drawn hundreds of times. Hands drawn in the same pose, from the same angle, hundreds of times. A leg… a face… hundreds, (probably thousands) of times.
Master the small individual elements that compose your entire piece, and watch your skills shock even yourself.
